Hello everybody, first post.....

I just drove an 2008 R8 manual for the first time ever. I rented one for the day and I am completed impressed/blown away. I am a huge fan of NA motors and manual trans. I currently have a 2011 M3 6spd. But this R8 handles so much better, sounds so much better, feels noticeably faster, and looks so much better. I got to get one. My new dream car. I’m intrigued what the V10 feels like.

My son and I rent cars and make short little youtube videos about them. If you want check it out. Just some R8 porn. But of all the cars I have ever driven, this is my #1. Thank you for listening. I got to start saving my money.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for taking the time to make a video. I also have a manual E92 M3 as a daily driver which does everything perfect from doing track and making home depot runs. The R8 is definitely special and also has quicker steering and more mechanical grip than the M3. While I push the M3 past its/my limits on the road with ease, I have yet to really take the R8 this far on the street, mostly due to the cost of making a mistake. I have a shorter, weighted shifter on the M3 which allows for faster shifting than on the R8, but there is something special with a feel and sound of the gated shifter that cant be beat. As for the sound, wait until you get a V10 with an aftermarket exhaust.....no words can explain the sound of the shrill from 6k rpm onwards. Thanks again for the vid.

Yes, I have the M5 shift knob which does improve the feel. Don’t get me wrong, I completely love my m3 but loved the R8 a little more. I cannot wait to try the v10. The R8 just felt so special and everything added together was the most fun I have had behind the wheel. The v8 seemed powerful enough for me though. Thank you so much for checking the video out. It means a lot.

Cool video, enjoyed watching. Yes, the R8 is a great all round car so couldn't agree with your summation more. BTW, I changed out the gear knob on mine which helped.

definitely enjoyed the video...thanks for sharing. i've been dreaming of the r8 since it came out and i finally acquired my black 2008 with gated manual last year and up to now i'm still pinching myself. i'm totally in love with this car. it will never disappoint and always puts a smile on my face every time i drive it or even just admiring it when i get the chance. i'm definitely still in the honeymoon stage with my baby but i don't think it'll ever change. i'm married to this forever LOL. well...what happened to that chick in the video? got disappointed there for a second but the r8 made up for it:).

Your M3 is the last generation that felt special. I have an F80, and other than the interior it is a complete let down. Best in it’s current class, but still a let down. I guess at least the F80 was a bit more exciting than the current C63S and S4, but that ain’t saying much.

Moral of the story: don’t get your wife pregnant.

Thank you so much for the kind words about the video. You guys are funny. But yes, the R8 is something really special.

I haven’t driven an F80 M. But I think they look great and the specs are impressive. I have driven the new Z4 and I was not a fan. I just didn’t like the power delivery or how it felt. It’s difficult to explain, didn’t feel real I guess. Or authentic.

Besides the obvious things, it’s difficult to explain why the R8 is so amazing. It just is. It works. Everything is perfect.

Thanks again for checking the video out. Super honored you dudes enjoyed.

You probably like the R8 because it’s characteristics are more in line with what you drive and prefer. BMW’s today are what Mercedes became 1 or 2 generations ago...poor quality and emotionless junk.

1. Welcome, Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago - awesome! :) Definitely in the top 10 movies from my time growing up.

2. Fantastic video - very nice seeing someone doing car videos with their son. Having a young boy, myself, I look forward to the day I can take him out in the R8 - he's still technically too small to do so safely.

3. Yes, the era of the large naturally aspirated engines... what a time. Sad that we're now forever past that point, and you'll need to scoop up these beautiful cars with their NA engines while you can.

4. Yes, the Gen-1 R8 is a timeless, beautiful classic.

5. Yes, truly enjoying a car is about so much more than simply raw speed. Personally, and I've been saying this for a while, I think I'm "over" more speed - it's something I'll always be impressed with (incredible how we've managed to make sub 2-second 0 - 60 cars!), but my enjoyment lately has been much more about the car's dynamics, the buttery smoothness of its engine, the sounds, the looks.

Again, welcome to the forum, and thanks for sharing the video - very entertaining!

Great intro and write-up.

I’m a long time M’er having had 2 E36 M3’s, 3 E46 M3’s including the 2005 Competition, 1 E92 M3 with the amazing V8 and redline increased to 8600, and finally 1 F13 M6 GC that I tuned to 700 HP and would chirp its wheels in 3rd gear...

But when I traded my M6 GC in for a 6-MT R8 V10...I knew I would never look back.

The V10 howl, the special feeling of the driver-centric cabin, the agility and handling...it was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

Every day, since about March 2015, I have had to pinch myself every time I get behind the wheel...the magic has never dissipated.

Just as the R8 had been my dream car since 2008...

I hope you acquire your R8 dream car sooner than later, it will never disappoint you.

Entertaining video, not too Techie, which I like. It's great to have your son with you, appreciating the cars. Even when my kids were toddlers, they would come to the drag strip and sit in my cars. I had muscle cars and Vipers for a bunch of years and was not too aware of the R8. In 2013, I leased an S5, I then became aware of the rest of Audi's performance lineup. When I saw the R8, the seed was planted. I never thought I would have one or bring myself to make the investment, but once I got serious, it became a reality, just took a little time and patience. Good luck in your endeavor and keep up the video work.

Great video.
I have a 2008 V8 manual R8 and a 2010 E92 M3 competition pack with dct and BMW M performance exhaust.
The M3 is the ultimate all rounder but the R8 feels just so special and is an occasion every time you drive it.

Cool video. Constructive criticism your talking gets a little boring. Less monotone more interesting stuff and you'll grow with your channel.

I got a few more years until my 2.5 month old can enjoy the R8. She enjoys the RS7 though for now.

How would you compare the RS7 to the R8? Is your RS7 gen 1 or 2? Thx

What specifically are you wanting to know? One's an exotic car and one's a super saloon. It's a 2018 RS7 Performance.
