Following on from this thread where I suggested people check their manual release, I put it all back together to find that neither the electronic nor the manual release cable do anything. The solenoid makes it usual noise but nothing happens. The manual release is about 1/2 inch further out than it had been, has no spring to it and doesn't move a millimetre (I know how much force it should take as I spent a day tugging at it.
Seems that I got the loop sandwiched between the fusebox and alu cover. But still doesn't open. So its common for the plastic loop near the centre latch to break but I've been hearing different experiences - some say it stopped just the electronic opening but manual was fine, others (like this thread) saying it broke both.

Whilst it seems likely the catching of the manual release is the cause I can't get my head around why. If the manual release was stuck (the metal loop under the plastic actuator loop) surely it'd simply slide over it? There'd be no risk of it breaking just because the manual release is stuck.
And I can't understand why, if the plastic loop is indeed broken, it would affect the manual release?
I won't be able to get it on ramps to try see the centre latch from underneath and/or manually tug at the side catches so I'm reaching out if anyone can explain what may have happened.
