I'm posting this to hopefully gather information regarding a FSBO of my 2014 V8. It has roughly 10,500 miles, full leather interior, B&O, and carbon both inside and outside. Pretty much fully loaded. Color is Samoa Orange. It is S-Tronic so I understand I won't get the pricing of a manual. Two questions I have before deciding on whether to sell my car:

1. What is it worth in today's market? I am the second owner and bought it in 2017 with 3,600 miles. Like-new condition. Dealer serviced. Have an Audi Pure Protection warranty that I never had to use. The warranty expires in October of this year.

2. For those of you who have sold similar high end cars yourself, are you able to sell without allowing test drives? I would be fine with having car inspected but don't want to attract people looking for a joyride. Also, do you use an escrow service to protect yourself against possible bad funds?

If I decide to sell, I'll probably post it here first with pictures. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

1. $75 - $85k
2. I think what you you could ask for a deposit to see who is serious and who is kicking tires first. Then offer that person a test drive. Ask for a cashiers check and go with them to the bank at the end to cash it. Keep the title in hand until the funds clear your account. Then mail the title. Write them a bill of sale.

Asking prices on autotrader in february were about $82k average and now they are $95k average. I'm not sure what the Orange does to price as its a cool color, but I would guess less buyers for it. I'm going though the same analysis as you right now trying to figure out what to list my car for. Mine has a lot more miles but a great warranty and is black.

Wow prices have really gone up. I just double checked CarGurus and can confirm the $95k. That's a welcoming surprise for me :) Maybe time to sell...

FWIW Cargurus estimates seemed way high for me when R8 shopping, and normally I think they are a pretty good baseline... I would double check other sources for sure.

@JuddS Interesting data on Feb vs. May - I think we're going to see general inflation across the board coming.

But you don't want to sell that beautiful R8! :)

Thanks for all the feedback, especially @JuddS for the comps. I agree with ezmaass that it's difficult to part with the R8. I do have mixed feelings. My thought about selling is if I can get a certain price for my R8 it would be time to let it go. I really enjoyed taking it out on drives when I first purchased it but it now seems like a weekly chore to take it out for a proper drive. By proper drive I mean a 30 minute drive where I give the R8 a chance to stretch its legs. I'm not one to just start the car in the garage once a week and be done with it.

I have noticed that my fun drives the past year have not been so much fun. I like to go to visit somewhere even if it's just to go grab lunch after a nice drive the long way there and back. With the past year of sequestration and so forth, my joyrides are basic runs around the somewhat local territory and bring it on home at the end of the drive. It got a little boring.

So hopefully as things open back up we can take these cars on drives that are worth doing and the fun of ownership will not seem like such a chore. Just my two cents.
