Re: QuickSilver Active Titan Exhaust. The British built monster for your R8 Gen 1 & I

On mine, "On" closes the valves, making it just slightly quieter. I never close them and I believe that leaving them on (closed) one time was the cause of a battery drain I had. I've not had the problem again by leaving them off (open).

That beind said, OMG! I've got about 3.5k miles on my GT version QuickSilver Titan, and I swear it just keeps sounding better and better. Is this possible? It is the perfect loudness for me without the valves, and it's not rowdy when pulling into the neighborhood. 4krpm is harmonious, and up around 9krpm it screams like an F1! I don't know what engineering went into these, but kudos!

Thanks....yeah I've messed with the button and I personally can't really tell a difference with them "on" or "off".... that's why I asked. Was hoping Quicksilver would chime in for certainty. Is there any way to physically see the valves actuating? Either way, I do agree..."on" or "off"... it does sound amazing!!!

Maybe your valves aren't hooked up . There is a big difference in exhaust sound with valves open or closed on my 17 R8 . Yes you can see the valves working if you go to the back of the car , have someone press the exhaust button

Hello! Just picked up your comment. There should be an audible difference with the valve open / closed. The facelift Gen 1 R8's have a slightly smoother transition between valves open / closed as they empty in to the same 3" big-bore outlet.

You should be able to note the arm on your valve actuator opening / closing as it's switched by peering through the rear grille. These pneumatic valves are bulletproof, and both valves not functioning is generally symptomatic of a vacuum failure upstream (R8's do have a habit of cooking their own vacuum lines).

Things to check: Battery in the remote, power to the valve control module (that's it's wired in correctly), that the vacuum lines are intact and free from leaks.

We recommend visiting your installer to confirm. Delighted to hear you're loving the sound!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Answer ref the engineering on page 1 :)

Our unique twist on the X-Pipe is the reason QuickSilver-equipped R8's are one of the closest things to an F1 car you'll hear on the street. Like a fine wine they do get better with age!

Quicksilver...another question.... does your mufflers use fiberglass packing? I've recently notice a lot of fiber material coming out of my car's exhaust. I probably only have a few thousand miles on my Quicksilver Active Titan exhaust so I don't know why it would already be blowing out material. Should I be concerned?

Hi! We haven't used fibre-based insulation in our Titan systems for some time. We use a finely woven stainless wadding.

I gather you’ve already emailed my colleague, so could I kindly ask that you liaise with your supplying dealer / installer for clarification. It is not unusual for the exhaust to expel some particulate whilst “bedding in” but we would not expect this to happen after a few thousand miles.

So please touch base with your dealer – it is important to rule out a few other factors like primary catalyst failure which could display similar symptoms. Naturally, if there’s a problem with the exhaust, we’ll supply a warranty replacement.

Thank you! I've contacted GMP and they're working with me and you all on this. Yeah I guess it's not really a fiberglass material...I did state to GMP when I talked to them that it actually looks like a very fine steel wool material. Hopefully we will get it resolved. Thanks again!

Had a Quicksilver exhaust on my MK1 Clio V6 many years back which was glorious, now in the market for something for the R8 Gen 2 I have and certainly considering this route.

Do you offer fitting in for UK customers willing to travel?

So pleased you enjoyed the QuickSilver system on your Clio V6. I’m biased, but confident our R8 Gen II system has the richest tone on the market – you will love it!

We have QS-dealers all over the UK, so there’s no need to make a long journey. I’ll DM you for your location and recommend a dealer close to you.

I’m thinking of buying the non-valved Supersport exhaust, are these ’super’ loud on start-up. I live in a small neighbourhood and use it as a daily drive.

Also, has anyone noticed any drone on the motorway with the Supersport exhaust?

I can answer this for you! Our non-valved SuperSport is one of the loudest R8 Gen 1 exhausts on the market. It is super loud on start-up but it doesn't drone on the motorway.

If you are at all worried about your neighbours, buy the AU330A Active Titan (with valves), it's a bit more money but gives you the opportunity to silence it with 95% of the SuperSport sound when required.

I'll drop you a DM with my details, feel free to call me direct with any questions.
