R8 Engine Longevity

Judd, the R8 V8 was shared with the RS4, so that's where you should be looking. There are several with 100k+ miles for sale - 180k looks to be the highest currently for sale on Autotrader.

While not an R8, the RS4 was still a special car so many won't have ridiculous miles on them. But there's no reason to believe that these engines won't go hundreds of thousands of miles easily. If maintained, I wouldn't worry about the engine honestly. The transmission may be a bigger concern if anything... DCTs are far newer (and much more expensive) than traditional automatics... but I honestly have no data here and haven't bothered to look!

If anything, I suspect you'll have annoyance issues far before a major mechanical failure with the engine or transmission at this point. Check back in at 150k - 200k miles on that front. :)

For fluid changes make sure you're doing the gearbox as well as the engine. If you're going to Audi they should know this and do it as part of your maintenance but an Indy just asked to do an oil change may not bring it up to you. It's either every four years or six - something along those lines but can't remember which at the moment.

Judd, you can always just get another lower mileage Facelift Gen 1 R8 like this one that just popped up on BAT:

I thought that was a wrap at first - but the listing states it's actually finished in "solar orange." Interesting for sure.
