R8 Engine Longevity

Also, I'm concerned about the engine but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong direction. What other highbdollar value fixes should I be concerned about?
Besides the mag rides and A/C compressor, ball joints and suspension bushings will wear out.

I understand that the facelift V8's were basicaly V10's, but had two-cylinders chopped off, so the engine should last for a while. However once you reach beyond 100 K, you're going to want to look at replacing the timing chains and timing guides as they don't last forever; you don't want a timing chain failure as that will lead to engine failure.

Motor mounts will eventually leak as well and that is an engine out procedure.

Dual clutch transmissions => Just stay on top of fluid changes every 30 K or 3 years so you can flush out all the worn clutch and metal materials. Sensors and solenoids on the mechatronic unit can wear out so be ready to replace that unit as well.

There is a high probability I wont keep the car after 108,000 miles, but I want to figure out the costs. I really just love the Gen 1 and the history and importance of the car in the history of cars.

I don't get the same feeling about the Gen 2, but perhaps I'd like it even more. When I test drove the gen 2 cars, I did say on those days after the test drive that I liked the looks a lot. I wish they had a V8 Gen 2 as its the better engine for me.

My guess is I'll just get a 2020-2023 when I hit 108k miles in 2025 and either keep the gen 1 at one of my places as a spare car or sell it. The problem with keeping the R8 as a spare car is that its not so practical and I like bikes and hiking and family so need more seats.

I got close at the end of 2023 to going to Gen 2, but it just seemed stupid as the gen 2 had not taken much depreciation and I felt dumb giving away a perfectly good cool car and $100k cash for a newer cool car.
Judd, you can always just get another lower mileage Facelift Gen 1 R8 like this one that just popped up on BAT:
