I just had this done. Blendmount and R7. local shop charged me $90 to do the hardwire.

The r7 can fit tight to the mirror, that one was not well adjusted.

I asked about this when I picked it up. You want to be able to fit your fingers over top to be able to turn the volume on the detector up or down, as well as having a bit of play to slide the detector into and out of the mount if you change it between vehicles.

Do you know the model number of the blendmount used? Usually the detector sits flush with the bottom of the mirror. At lest with my GTR and RS7 it does. I have an off brand mount now and it fits the R7 tight to the bottom of the mirror, but boy is it ugly.

note the install guide which says to leave some space between the mirror
