I just washed my new R8 and it appears (roof mounted)the brake light broke clean on both ends..about 1" of brake lens broken on both ends..the cracked area is so symmetric it almost looks like a design treatment ..Anyone have same problem.? Spongy insulation exposed on both ends...
Yes have seen this a couple of time,s-- but unable to see why! the ends seem to be under no strain. They have also been known to squeak over rough roads. they,re a bit tricky to get out(locked in with a slide clip accessed through a small hole -up near the partition window. Should not be a problem with warranty
Yes, this happened on the right side of mine as well. I think the thick rubbery gasket under the plastic lens is providing too much pressure essentially pushing on the back of the plastic. I bet they all crack sooner or later.
Same thing happens to me too. Left and right edges of center light crack.
