The one and only video from Secret Weapon is catless. You'll never get a true F1 sound with cats. Ask Secret Weapon to post a video of their catted system?

From their website:

Road-Legal Compliance: This system does not include catalytic converters and may not be legal in your country or region. By purchasing, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for using this system on public roads.

Once again, who mentioned cats? I said i wanted valves.

and you are wrong about cats, the sound can be achieved if you tune for it, but that’s a separate discussion, like I said, it’s valves that I insist on.

Can get F1 sound with cats. I’ve been speaking to secret weapon fab about this, just needs to be designed for them.

The point is the “F1” Valvetronic design system with the attempt at high pitch using a z pipe does not have valves.

Doesn’t change the fact that the Valvetronic designs “true F1” doesn’t have valves.

Re secret weapon fab : I’m in no rush to spend £15k+ on an exhaust, they can take as long as they like.

Sorry, misspoke regarding valves. Manifolds are the key to F1. Secret Weapon Exhaust without changing manifolds wouldn't help. 15/20k usd plus complete engine out for installation. 25/30k when all said and done

Thanks for the lesson in exhaust design and finance.

Installation/mapping etc will cost me nothing.

you seem to have an agenda against swf, not sure why but regardless of what’s going on, they are the only company in the world who have made an exhaust that sounds like this on the 5.2 V10. Whether is vapourware or not, they are ahead of anyone else - I’d prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt, it costs me nothing.

Let me know in 10 years when its designed and tested. It's currently only a concept, you must be pretty gullible when they can't deliver on the current version
Hey Brian, certainly not a concept. I personally have been in the Huracan with the full SW exhaust when I was there in Sao Paulo in January. Team just told me all orders are getting finished up and soon you'll be seeing a lot of Youtube videos popping up of cars with their exhaust systems installed. The sound is intoxicating and I've heard every V10 exhaust on the planet - there is nothing else like it.

Thats awesome you won't have those additional expenses. I assume you have the capabilities.

The other 99% will have that expense which makes that exhaust in the R8 market very limited or obsolete. Unless you have money to burn it'll be a tough sale. It's already a tough sale when we haven't seen multiple videos or one comment on all R8 platforms

No one is making you post here/buy one

People who can justify/appreciate the prospect are showing some patient excitement in their posts here.

Clearly you have no interest in purchasing so I am not sure exactly what you are trying to contribute here.

That said, it’s also a configuration that, to this day, no customer has actually received. I personally know of several individuals — including one LamboJesus and The hamilton collection — who were promised systems nearly six months ago, with nothing delivered despite marketing efforts and full deposits.
For what it is worth - this is completely inaccurate. Neither Alex or Steve left a deposit for any exhausts. To my knowledge the latter ended up getting Gintani for his Revuelto.

So I can get in line for a 1st Gen V10 exhaust without a deposit??
Deposit is the only way to get in line.

Keep in mind that they are only a small 20 person team, including the welders and there are also customers who are knocking on their doors to get their hands on exhaust systems for their incredible 458, 812, Aventador, Porsches and most recently the Revuelto - which is setting another standard for a V12 exhaust. Quality over quantity. Just incredible attention to detail.

I’m curious - is the quality and attention to detail so good that you’re going to lay under your car in the garage and admire it? Lie there, admiring the welds on my exhaust.

“Honey I’m gonna go lay in the garage under the car and admire the quality of my 20,000$ exhaust. Sorry we can’t go on vacation next month, but the attention to detail on these metal pipes is out of this world.” 😂

Are you going to take the exhaust back off the car and put it on display to admire the craftsmanship? Explain to all of your guests that it cost $20,000 and the quality is so good you don’t even want to run hot exhaust gasses through it.

It seems to me once the exhaust is on the car you’re likely to never see it again, so who cares if it’s the best weld in the world, or just a good weld or just an average weld

I won’t even spend $5,000 on an exhaust so I understand that I “don’t get it.”

They all do the same thing and weigh about the same.

I’m going to tell everyone at cars and coffee and at the Audi dealer that my $1200 alibaba exhaust is ACTUALLY a 15,000$ rare akrapovic 1 off system.

Unless they lie under the car to inspect the welds they’ll never know the difference 😂😂

If you have to explain to someone why something is special - it isn’t special.

I actually don’t like pie cut welds at all. At this price all bends should be mandrel like Akrapovic.

For me it’s just the sound.

I believe the quality of the welds goes hand in hand with the system's longevity, as they claim it should have a lifetime warranty. On the other hand, this exhaust is purchased for the unique sound it achieves, nothing else. I don't think anyone would consider aesthetics when purchasing this exhaust.

clearly not getting it. Build quality is a given on this particular exhaust, but pretty much irrelevant as it can be found on other exhaust 1/4 the price. I'm buying this for the craftsmanship and R&D they put into this exhaust to acquire a tuned sound that sets them apart from 100% of the other alternatives offered on the market. Sound is the sole reason people are going to pay 18k and they'd pay more if SW asked for more.

For me it’s a massive amount of money for an exhaust but equally I do not see it as just an exhaust, I see it as a way to make the R8 sound like the LFA, Carrera GT or 5.0 gallardo with an x pipe.

That to me addresses the only shortfall in the best all round supercar. I believe the musical engine makes it perfect - like a proper exotic sports car.
