Anyone have any knowledge of this brand of exhaust - sounds incredible !!
No worries at all! I'm not collecting any money and for what it is worth, it is me - Raf, not Nagengast that is involved with Secret Weapon. I also own a supercar club called PHXDriven down here in Arizona and sell aftermarket warranties for Autrella, for a total clarity!Nagengast, can you explain the link between you and secret weapon?
Forgive me for my caution but it's a massive amount of money and I don't get the connection between a polish company and a brazilian one.
That is correct! Should Secret Weapon drastically expand and require my help, I may have to get a new user account so the two companies don't mixAhhh, sorry for the “mistrust”. I didn’t realise you were in the states. Can I assume that you distribute for nagengast over the pond?
sorry, I’m new to R8s and so was not familiar, plus this is a predominantly U.S. forum.
this sounds insaneAnyone have any knowledge of this brand of exhaust - sounds incredible !!
Even better in person.this sounds insane
Yeah it's definitely not the same. They have not cracked the code yet like Secret. With the Secret exhaust the dominant frequency is twice as high. The dominant frequency of Secret can only be heard as an overtone on the Valvetronic exhaust. It's probably just equal length headers with an x-pipe, basic stuff. Barely changes anything on the note unlike Secret exhaust which doubles the dominant frequency. And Valvetronic are selling it as if it's something revolutionary xD "you absolutely need this for your R8" yet if you do a simple muffler delete on your R8 it's gonna sound pretty much the same. If you really wanna change the sound substantially you need an unequal length exhaust. What do you guys think of this?
Valvetronic designs seem to be trying the same thing but it’s not quite the same!

I think just by looking at that Valvetronic exhaust, that it is not unequal length at all, it looks symmetrical. When they go through the headers they talk about special extra length runners to equalize the exhaust. They also mention the degree of overlap of the x pipe being crucial. I think what they are lacking is stepping in the headers to increase the number of reflections.
I was looking back at my deliberations thinking the lengths must be tuned for a certain rev range because the timing between pulses changes with engine speed - I think my theory is muddled as it occurred to me that the speed of the pulses is the speed of sound not the speed of the gas. It will vary with exhaust gas temp and pressure but I doubt that’s going to change enough to have a material effect.
need to go back and rewatch the maisteer videos!
Yeah, I'm super interested too but also have a Gen 1 and so far, I haven't seen them test fit their exhaust system into a Gen 1, so dumping $18k without guaranteed fitment(plug n play) is not smart.I was about to purchase the Secret Weapon system for my 2013 R8 V10, but I've stopped getting any responses from the Secret Weapon team regarding compatibility on my model....
I saw that they only have 1 system sold and it's for a Gen 2 R8, so I don't want to risk it until I see a Gen 1 with the system installed since $18,000 is a lot of money for me.
In the meantime I'm enjoying my QuickSilver.
