Very glad these guys actually took the time to talk to Tom Kristensen and acknowledge the awesome history, even if just scratching the surface, for this video. The R8 is really an amazing car... looks, reliability, soundtrack, usability, excitement, and one of the most fascinating motorsport histories. "Complete package" is almost an understatement as I'm sure the term has been used for cars with only a fraction of the ingredients offered by the R8.

 

Brilliant ! a must watch for every R8 aficionado. I like how they covered the R8 history.

 

Always enjoy his reviews. Adds a certain personal touch and background context to the cars he reviews.

I have a little history of my own. Back in 2007 I was working for a major tier 1 automotive supplier. One of the sales folks working for me, her husband was an auto reviewer/reporter. He stopped by the office with the first R8 in the United States.

Guess I was destined to one day own one.

 

I really enjoyed that salute. I began my ownership journey with a GT, and it seems fitting that the last hurrah for the R8, is a GT edition. Long live the king!!!
