To all of my R8 owners out there I would love to know... in your opinion....what the single most effective mod you have done to your R8 V10? Is it the exhaust or the tune? Or something else. I have heard some incredible gains with both the tune and the exhaust but just wanted to get a consensus. Considering the cost to install the exhaust as well..

1st would have to be an exhaust, particularly the rev9 ones as far as bang for you buck, but really just about any aftermarket exhaust just makes the R8 sound so much better. After that, controversially, I'd say the Sprintbooster/Pedal Commander/Pedal Box. They're super cheap and make an immediate, noticeable difference.

For me it was an exhaust (Capristo) and an ECU tune (APR).

In order of priority I would rate as follows:
1. Tune. Extra 80hp plus better throttle feel right away
2. Lighter wheels with good tires and more aggressive offset. Better looks, handling and feels like another 20hp on top
3. Exhaust. Sound to match performance and even better handling due to removed 10-15kg from the rear.

1) Tune (VF)
2) Titanium straightpipes (Avior)
3) smooth intake tubes (Reid)
4) radar detector (Uniden R7)

Also good coilovers and tires make things tighter.

Why do you think smooth intakes tubes make a difference? Not arguing, just want to know..

andy bell, what tune are you using to get 80hp? Is it on a V8 or 10?

Of course the smooth tubes make a difference otherwise nobody would do them.

This is a great thread!! Just picked up a low 4900 mile Gated Suzuka. Starting with exhaust and tune right away!!! Still haven't decided on which tune..... Thinking Fabspeed or Capristo for exhaust.
