Which aftermarket shocks

My service rep informed me that my front Mag ride shocks are "leaking". As I review the posts on this topic it is clear that the OEM Mag ride shocks have a reputation for failing early on (my car has only 50,000 km's). The cost, taxes in. for the replacement of the two is C$4,100.

He then emailed me that an alternative is replacing all 4 Magnetic ride shocks with a K&R "coil over" kit for C$5100, taxes in, plus the cost of an alignment. I imagine others have dealt with the same situation so I'm wondering what people's experience has been. Do the front shocks often fail more quickly than the rears or should I expect to have the rears fail relatively soon as well. How does aftermarket shocks (K&R specifically) affect the handling of the car compared to the OEM?
There have been more than a few threads about this recently. The cost of coilover kits from H&R or KW or mag-ride dampers is close enough to a genuinely proper Ohlins based coilover I would definitely take a step up to one of these kits:
