Just here to say that I think the OP is spot on - the 10x markups on name brand exhausts are unjustified and a pure scam. No different than women's Hermes purse vs. a regular everyday brand, just because it's outrageously more expensive doesn't mean is performs outrageously better.

I've had my Rev9 Chinese exhaust for several years now, the build quality was excellent and the sound was as expected. More importantly, I LOVE the fact that I saved tons of money to spend on other mods that are worth it.
Thank you!!! Just because it’s 8 times as expensive does not make it 8 times better quality!

I honestly think these dealers have everyone convinced that because it’s Chinese it’s junk, and they should instead purchase their 8k exhaust.

Total scam!!!

Anybody has any experince with Remus exhaust?
I think quite reputable brand and quite good price:

OP, one thing to think about is the valve operation since you have a 23 with the shitty oem valve operation. The more expensive systems like capristo have their own valve controller systems some of which actually allow you to set the timing of the opening of the valves based on rpm and throttle pressure. The cheaper systems dont have that and so your exhaust will still be hampered by the OEM valve operation (i.e. stupid quiet at low rpms). If you add a cheap valve controller that simply opens up the valve you will notice a loss of torque in the lower rpms due to the change in back pressure. So if you want to keep the torque levels you currently have AND get better sound throughout the rev range, you need to go for a more expensive exhaust that improves the valve operation through a linked valve controller.

Unless of course there is a cheaper option that includes a dedicated valve controller that allows you to program the valves based on throttle pressure and rpm?

interesting six pages in and no one has volunteered the y have experience with installing a Chinese exhaust. what does that tell you?

lots will defend your position on value, but wont lock step with down the road of actually doing it.
perhaps all those who would should make a group order to further a price discount

im kinda disappointed everyone has managed to talk OP back towards common sense, was really hoping to see how alibaba exhaust turned out

I installed my Rev9 by myself. The fit was perfect and the build quality was excellent. But ****, was it tedious!

Yeah, it makes you think Audi gets a kickback from the little screw maker! And let's hide a couple of those bastards just to make sure whoever is working on it has to poke around a little longer before it comes apart!

:D

Ah, cost vs. quality argument! Expensive doesn’t mean better quality IMO. Every time I buy my wife Hermes goods (Birkin, Kelly, numerous other leather goods…junk to me🤣), I get a good chuckle. That goes for every high end watches, jewelry, clothes, etc. Hey, if that sort of stuff brings joy to the Mrs., I’m okay with it. Without getting into a long debate, not all Chinese/Asian made exhausts (or other devices) are junk. I don’t have an aftermarket exhaust but if I were in the market, I wouldn’t spend more than $6k but that’s just me. I might even consider a Chinese made exhaust!

I was looking at car storage lifts the other day and learned that most are Chinese made. I’m totally for American made products but I find it funny how some U.S. vendors bash “them Chinese made junk”. 😂 Instead of playing defense, how about getting their act together and build a competitively priced product! No one on here has the right to wave the U.S. flag and claim self righteousness, IMHO; after all, we own a German vehicle. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t own any American cars. To each his own.

You’re absolutely correct, I would even argue some American made products are WORSE quality

I think it’s as simple as this : the dealers like R8 Stuff want to sell you their 8k exhaust and make money off of you so they bash Chinese quality.

They don’t make money if you skip the middle man and go direct to China!

Anyone selling a reputable brand at a reasonable price? Figured I’d make a post asking, because I’m about to drop 1100 on a cheap Chinese valved exhaust.

I’m not falling for this 7-8k exhaust scam. Been there and done that

anyone have any experience with these Chinese systems? Apparently they supply for valvetronic as well as many other companies.
23 R8 RWD
I have an IPE system available for cheap that I removed off my 2020 R8.

While @R8-Stuff might not be an altruist, he’s certainly helped a lot of people in sourcing items that are hard to get. Including USED exhausts for prices that are far below retail, and even below your $4k threshold. I don’t believe he deserves to be bashed.

As far as “Chinese Quality”, there are many many high end items produced in China. This is a fact.
But there are also a lot of cheap knockoffs that buyers looking to save a buck need to be aware of.

Spend as much, or as little as you want. I don’t care.
Personally, I’m pragmatic and love saving a buck, but not at the expense of being disappointed in my purchase.
