I put a radar detector in my R8 this past weekend which got me looking closely at the battery for power. To my surprise I found that the bolts on both the positive and negative terminals were completely loose. I could turn the nut on the neg side freely with my fingers. On the pos side the nut was actually misthreaded and in the end I sheared the bolt in two trying to remove it, and had to replace it.
The lead terminals were snug enough on the posts so that I didn't have any power problems, but certainly this could have led to a much bigger problem. Obviously a QC problem. I sure hope all the rest of the bolts on my car are tight!
