Hi Guys,
This is my 1st post. I recently sold my NSX after many years of ownership and am now looking to get my first R-8 this Spring. While I love the White/Blk blade, and Black/Blk blade cars like most everybody else, I'm thinking about getting a Jet Blue/Silver blade model. I've only seen this combo in pictures. I've never seen one in person (....and I live in Southern California!!!).

Some basic questions....

Does this color combo look great in person, or do the pics I see not translate to real life?

What years was this combo offered? (I'm looking to spend 80-90 K)

What were the interior color options for this exterior color choice ?

I'm assuming that this color is somewhat rare. Does this mean that prices will be higher because of the rare color, or will prices be lower than, let's say an Ibis White, because Jet Blue simply wasn't a popular color during its run ?

Oh, and I must say that whatever car I will get must have the STOCK 5 double spoke alloy wheels that I've seen on 2008-2009 models. What was the cutoff year for those wheels ? They are simply the best looking stock issue wheels I've ever seen !

Thanks in advance for your replies

I can’t say that I have ever seen that color combo, but I have seen other colors with silver blades and I much prefer the black carbon fifer blade to the silver.

This just my own personal taste; colors are very subjective and if I were you I would not rely upon others and just get what appeals to you!

Is this Jet Blue?

Black blades look nice. You could always get them wrapped if you like the blue but not the silver

As mentioned above, looks and colors are subjective. Personally, I was never a fan of this color. I have seen MANY Jet Blue R8s locally, both at my dealer and around town over the years. So that is a decision you will have to make, however I think the pics do show its true colors rather well (in most cases of course)

Not sure what years, but it was definitely available in 2008/2009 and possibly 2010? Not sure if it went past 2010, but with your 80-90k budget, I would say you will be getting a 2008-2009 in mint condition

I think (but I am not certain) you were able to order any of the interior colors that were available at the time but I could be wrong...Most that I have seen have a light grey/beige like interior. (not a fan of that either in this car)

Prices will certainly be lower for this color, way less demand for it in comparison to say White/black/grey/silver/red etc. About a year or so ago, my local dealer had one come in on trade and they actually had it for so long that they ended up wholesaling it one of their wholesalers (which they never do with R8s) because there was barely any interest on the car and they didn't want to get stuck with it for too long.

2008-2012 would all have the same wheels on the V8. 2014 was the first year of the facelift model, which had the new split 5 spokes wheels and of course the 2010-2012 V10 came standard with the Y Spoke wheels seen on most V10s. But your 2008-2009-2010 and all the way up to 2012 V8 will have those wheels, in either regular silver finish, polished finish or titanium (dark grey) finish.

Not a fan of Jet Blue - there were some other nice blues available on the R8 if you're looking to go blue. I think this color just looks too light - like a baby blue, and I'm not sure it offers enough contrast with the silver blades.

That said, color is subjective, and you need to buy what YOU personally like. I agree with slammedr8, as well, that resale on this color will likely be a bit less than other more in-demand colors. Rare, as far as colors go, doesn't always translate well into value if the reason behind the rarity was simply low interest. In other cases, certain colors were only offered for a short period, and their rarity translates well into value because they're also in-demand.

In any case, best of luck with your R8 search and welcome to the forum!

When I was looking for my car I noticed a local Jet Blue R8 that sat at a dealer for what seemed like a year. As others have said, I don't believe the colour was very popular and the jet blue example that was here was far under most asking prices with similar mileage .
However, all this works in your favor....if the colour appeals to you then you should have some great bargaining power. Just be aware that if you go to resale it may be subject to the same market effects.
