Not sure if its just straight up bad luck or that the michigan luxury car services are just complete crap.. but just had my car professionally wrapped and not too happy with the end result.

First, most of my screws from the blades are missing, second they super glued them back in place using gorilla glue, and guess what it looks like crap as the gorilla glue is seeping through the blade crevices on multiple places and makes the car look like complete **** from the back. Luckily the glue snaps off pretty easily by using a knife, but honestly I dont have time for that nor really the patience.

Next they wrapped my mirrors differently, where one has a bit more exposed than the other and I was told they had to do it this way since they couldnt get the wrap inside the crevice of the mirrors. They also debadged my car but I explicitly told them to put them back on since I didnt want to do it myself nor do i trust myself in lining it up perfectly. This wasnt done either.

Third the sensor in front of the car was pushed in somehow and now there is a hole where the sensor is supposed to go. I can feel it when i put my finger in there, but no way can I pull it out or get it back to where it was. What should I do? I could vacuum it out and glue the sides and hope it sticks? He told me that it was loose like that when they started doing the work, but Im pretty confident it wasnt like that..

Although I do like the overall look for the car, I did end up paying him and taking the car home. Any ideas what I should do now? The super glue part really drove me crazy and doesnt seem professional at all.... Im about to email them and ask for a partial refund or I will be posting negative reviews about them and getting all my buddies to do it too.

Also to top it off he convinced me to get avery satin black wrap... then I realized that it was discontinued... so lets say I need the side door to be redone in the future, like I hit something or someone peels it off.. Id have to redo the whole car since you aparently cant order satin avery anymore... :(

What the hell were they thinking using glue to fix your side blades back on. I would be looking for more than a partial refund. If they had seen any potential problems like your sensors they should have called you before continuing or take photos you shouldn’t have to glue anything back onto your car.
Hope you get it resolved sometimes you do wonder why we have to put up with second rate workmanship.

The side blades are secured by both screws and double-sided tape. It would be purely unprofessional and irresponsible to put things back the wrong way, especially using something that's obviously not meant to be used on an automobile. This sounds like an incompetent shop.

Do you have photos of the problems?

Definitely sub standard workmanship on the wrap and glue on the fins totally unacceptable and will be a pig to clean up. The sooner you make your case the better, need to note all faults with photos and state how you expect them to be rectified. If they continue to fail to acknowledge the issues then you will have to take legal proceedings. Question is whether they have the skill to rectify to the right standard otherwise you're gonna need to have them compensate you for the work to be done elsewhere.

The manager just emailed me and said that they aren't obligated to do anything but want me to be happy and will be reaching out on monday. Hmmm Im assuming since I picked up the car and paid him that I accepted the job as it is? I do internet marketing for a living and really do hope that he refuses to do the work or asks for more money so I can have some fun with his website ratings and reviews on all his social network accounts

But yea definitely not happy about that gorilla glue that is ridicolous

They damaged your car through incompetence...end of story...DAMAGED...They are obligated to rectify the problem to your satisfaction despite what the manager says. Gorilla glue is not a fastening system on a R8 and not a professional solution to any body work... They should have contacted you about the sensor immediately if it was in fact already damaged (pushed in). If you need to pursue legal action, I would take the car to your Audi dealer to estimate repairs... In the mean time, if the manager is going to be so kind as to make you "happy", make sure that any repair done will use audi fasteners/parts...and not performed by the idiot who did the glue job... I would be very clear on my expectations... Good luck, you shouldn't have to fight them on this when they are clearly in the wrong...

I agree they should have attached things back properly but things do break when they are taken off when wrapping a car such as say the door handles so would have to be reattached using double side tape. But I dont like the idea of glue being used as it will make it very hard to remove in future. Wraps are **** anyway give it a few months and they start to look tatty so I wouldnt worry so much and just enjoy the car while the wrap is fresh :)

Payment is not full acceptance of the work done. Be armed with a full list of the faults that need to be fixed to make you happy no matter how small and be clear of what you expect to be the end result. Putting it on paper may help to clarify. Give him a chance to rectify but if he refuses or fails to make it clear that you will take it thru legal and seek compensation for the work to be done elsewhere. What you do to his ratings is best saved for later.

The fins are held on by a couple of screws from the back i.e. rear bumper off to access. My guess is they've forced them off without removing the bumper and obviously then been totally clueless how to reattach. No way should they have been glued back on and the end result is all the evidence you need to prove their poor workmanship. Also, I had part of my car wrapped about 2 years ago and after a polish it still looks as good as it did new.

I'm from Michigan too, which company did you use to do your wrap?

Nice to see a fellow R8 owner around.

Metrorestyling.com - they are located in Sterling heights. Definitely dont go there, heck idk if I trust any wrap place in Michigan now. They scratched up my car pretty badly, messed up my blades etc.

Where in Michigan are you located and how old are you? Awesome to see another Michigan R8 owner!

Just to update this thread, looks like I will open a small claims case against them. I told them I wanted the carbon fiber blade to be replaced by them since it has a big mark on it from them, its about 2k and he has yet to respond to me. Now going to court to get it resolved.

Good luck. I in Brighton/Howell area, but drive around West Bloomfield/Novi area a lot.

What area are you from?

I've ordered things from Metrorestyling, but never had them do any work. Good to know for future reference.

That's why I'm scared of getting a wrap. Too many sub standard shops out there!!!

In the same boat was all set to wrap my car with Xpel Ultimate self healing full coverage and was told they would be using the second gen which I thought was Xpel but turned out it wasn’t and when I asked what it was called I was told it is what it is (worried) so didn’t proceed.
'Can you trust anyone'
All I wanted is to have my car wrapped professionally without any if's or buts’. For £5300 - $8500 I would expect a professional job.

I've heard so many horror stories that i just don't wanna take a chance. A friend of mine wrapped his Ferrari 599 and they cut his paint with a razor.

And that will cost a lot more than the wrap to have the paint put right if not a respray.

I think I will be giving it a miss for the time being until I have 100% guarantee that it will be done right and the right product used.
There are also a lot of views over pre-cut wrapping and full wrapping and that is where allot of the damage occurs cutting the wrap unless you can get someone that is a pro and will be honest.
Good luck I think we all need it.

Im surprised no one has mentioned the obvious here...I would be willing to bet HUGE money that these guys cut up the paint with the blade when they were cutting/trimming the wrap. I would have that entire wrap removed ASAP and check out the paint underneath. Sorry to say but its almost a guarantee...these guys are a hack shop clearly.

Did you do any of your own research into this shop before bringing your R8 there?

I'm in the East Lansing area.

And yea there are cut marks already that I can see on the car. For example there are two on my taillight, some on the inside panel where you open the door, some on top of the hood and the back engline hood. You can clearly see there will be a ton of marks on the car once I peel it all off...

He told me this is standard and that any detail shop can just buff it out and it will look like new. I complained to him and he said he would even pay for it all to be done so idk.

But regardless the mark on the carbon fiber pissed me off the most since thats super visible with any sort of glare or sunlight. I had it wrapped over in carbon temporarily but that carbon blade is about 2.5k to replace and this asshole is going to pay for it or I will be sueing and sharing my story all over the internet.
