I think you need to remove the side blade first.

 

If you just want to remove the cover then it is bolted on to the hingine at the back. If you want to get the filler neck surround off as well then the side blade needs removing.

 

I am pretty sure on the GEN 2 the silver cap cover just clips on to the flap, hopefully this link will

Open the lid and on the inside outer edge furthest from the car you'll see a slot. There is a clip/flap in there. Use a flat head screwdriver to push on the clip/flap and the cover slides off (pull away from car).

 

Is this procedure for Gen 1 or 2 or both?

So I see the notched tab on the outside of the flap but when I’m pushing down on it, I only get a little movement from the cover. Doesn’t seem to want to slide off...what am I missing?

 

Anybody done this recently?

 

I don’t see the tab the under the cap cover (Gen 2) to remove it. Anyone got a picture
