Hi Folks, I can easily see what asking prices are for 2nd generation R8's, but what do you actually end up paying? (please don't include tax, title, and license fees).

Other folks on the prowl for an R8 might also like to know, so I decided to create and maintain a database (with your help! :)).

If you purchased a second generation used R8 in 2020 (2017 - 2021 at the time this post was written), could you please provide the following?

The table contains:
MSRP
Asking price
Purchase price
Mileage
Date Purchased
Model Year
Trim Level
Factory Options
Dealer vs private sale question
Modified (yes, no and/or list of modifications (ecu tune, exhaust, new wheel rims, aero kits, etc)

If non-USA based folks would like to contribute, I would be happy to start a second table. Please fill in the information listed above. Additionally, please provide what country you purchased the R8 in and what the MSRP, asking price and purchase price is in your local currency and I'll start and maintain a separate table.

I'm really more interested in prices for factory stock cars, but if you bought a modified car, feel free to contribute but please indicate that the car has been modified.

I appreciate that some folks might not want to advertise what they paid, so if you are concerned about that but still want to contribute, please send me a private message and I'll include your data in the table without referencing you (i.e. I will anonymize the data).

The reason why I'm asking is that I'm planning to start negotiating for an R8 in the near term and would like some idea as to what would constitute a reasonable price for both the buyer and seller.

Thanks in advance.

So you don't have to hunt for the latest table somewhere in this thread, I will be updating the table periodically in this original posting.

Note: This is the latest USA table as of 2:15pm, 2/21/2021

Yeah, I'm afraid of that. Unfortunately I was traveling on a long distance trip all day Saturday and didn't notice the listing until Saturday night. I'm going to call the dealership first thing Monday when they open.

Does anyone know how to copy this table into a reply? When I include the quote for the prior reply so I can edit the table, the system no longer displays the quoted table in the new reply (I hope that makes sense).

I need to include Malar1898's data in the table, but I a struggling to figure out how to do that.

Never mind regarding question on maintaining the table. I moved the table into an excel spreadsheet on my laptop and it's easy to copy-paste the table into the reply after I update it.

Malar1898, could you please fill in more of the table for your vehicle? Thanks.

Assuming that car priced at 130.999 2017 was Daytona Gray and in Florida I was in contact with the dealer on Friday about it. Called about noon today to lock it in and was told it sold. Was not aware about the mods - Good luck with the car!

Hi Markcus58 .... Yup, I beat you to it. That's the same car. Sorry for buying it out from under you. I bought it at 11:30am ... Thanks for the best wishes!

FYI: The dealer would not negotiate on the price and said it was priced to sell based on market conditions. I disagreed until I learned about the fabspeed upgrade and factored in the mileage and the condition.

As for the condition, I was also able to figure out which independent shop performed the fabspeed upgrade and also performed the post-warranty service. When I spoke with the owner of the shop, he was very familiar with the vehicle and had installed the fabspeed upgrade personally. He said the car was in absolutely mint condition and impeccably maintained by the owner. I wanted to have this indy shop perform a PPI, but the owner refused ... he said "that would essentially be robbing you as the car is pristine and has nothing wrong with it. I can't take your money as it would not be right" :)

While I had really planned on buying a stock car and perhaps maybe an ecu tune someday, I decided this R8 was too good to pass up.

I'll be traveling to/from Dallas, Tx to Pensacola over the next 3 days to buy this R8. I'll drive there in a car that I plan to trade in and will drive the new R8 back home. Should be an epic trip through the backroads of Alabama! Wish me luck... I am really excited. Am 58 years old and have waited 35 years to buy my first sports car (and first really expensive car too) !

So, if anyone wants to continue to provide input to this table, I will commit to maintaining it for a while. But there will be a few days before I can update it again as I'll be traveling :) Please PM me with your info and I'll add it to the table when I get back.

Great the car went to an enthusiastic fella, again all the best. I guess you bested me by about 30 mins, it was about noonish on Monday that I called to ink a deal. With my initial call to them on Friday I got the same line about the pricing and actually the agent was a tad rude about it which put me off a bit. Still I offered a close negotiable amount, got the carfax & photos and a quote to check the dealer adders. There was no mention of the upgrades even though I asked about any service records and such - that may have lead me to pull the trigger then. But I am looking for a base car and intend to get as long an extended warranty as possible so that tune would be a negative from that perspective.
So onward goes my search for a 17 Daytona gray with CF and 20" wheels. One will come along and I'll be quick(er) at the draw.
Cheers and have good, safe fun with that drive.

Let's go ahead and expand this table to include all Gen 2 sales (e.g. 2017 - 2021).

Also, if you purchased your car outside of the USA, please list your country and price information in your local currency and I would be happy to include it in a separate table.

Glad to hear that the thread is useful. It certainly has been for me.

I have received more input via private messages. I will be updating the table soon and will subsequently update this thread.

Keep the information coming!

Hi Isellpower, I just send you a private message. Yes, this is the same car.

I drove to Florida from Dallas, Tx to check out the car. Ultimately, I decided not to go forward with the deal (see private message for more info).

If you ultimately purchase the vehicle, congratulations!! The mod's ended up not being a good fit for me as I really wanted a stock vehicle anyway.

My initial inquiry was with specific questions about mods. Was told no mods whatsoever. When I made my offer the manager came back with, "Too low for all of the mods done to it." I had asked because of the red highlights in the engine compartment. I have an RS7, Q7, and Etron, all from different dealers. Audi Pensacola is not up the same standards as the others I have dealt with.

I was going to add exhaust anyway, the tune was a surprise, but I was probably going to end up tuning within the year. When it's on the truck I'll tell you gents what I ended up paying.

Here is an updated table as of 2:30pm on 1/26/2021. I had several private messages, but none of them contained info to add to the table.

Murph145, I added your info as the last line in the table. Thanks for contributing.

Isellpower, I took out the row in the table corresponding to the car you potentially purchased since I didn't end up buying it. If you ultimately purchase it, let me know what you end up paying for it and I'll add it back into the table (private message is ok too).

Folks, the power of the table is derived from having enough entries to be useful. Please consider contributing. If you are uncomfortable with disclosing this info publically, that's ok. Just send me a private message and I'll add your info to the table confidentially.

Still working with them and talking to the tuner trying to get exactly what was done. If nothing else I want them to pay to get the tune figured out. I'll keep you posted.
I'm not into Verts, but there is a sweet 18+ down in Florida for 159k. I'm not into verts, but **** that's a nice car. If I was closer it would be mine.
