Hi All,

I am picking up my first Audi R8 (Goals!!!).
I am absolutely buzzing she is a 2016 and has a few bells and whistles but unfortunately no CarPlay/AA.
I previously had an Audi TT 2018 and installed the CarPlay myself using Incredible Bash etc so I feel very competent to do it in the R8.

I wanted to ask if anyone could point me in the right direction as I will need the V.C firmware update (Virtual Cockpit).
I have already downloaded the MMI firmware and have the other files to activate.

I also wanted to know if there are any pointers prior to activating?

I thought I saw another thread where you were offering Map updates as a service in the UK ?

If your messing with other peoples farmware commercially you really should know how to do this stuff without asking ?

If you’re used to Bash then you should be able to find your way around. I was new to Audi with the R8 but used to hacking Porsche / BMW firmware so found it easy via the SD card slot to update everything.

Nb I’m in the UK so different files if your in North America I think ?

Username and password are both guest….

Nb Its easy to hack the map code so you can download the latest Golf R maps from the VW website ;-)

Virtual Cockpit updates are also there ie the latest one on there is :

AU_C1_AU724_0253_0400_prod_8S0906961AF_R8

You can get it from the MIBSolutions.one link and then go into MQB Solution —> VD-AID Updates

Here is a good video showing you how to do it, albeit on an S3 but same process using the correct file for the R8…..nb the video also shows you how to clear the error code updating the firmware creates ;-)

I’m sorry I only researched this when I got my R8, I’ve never had another Audi to have to do it for. The models are usually at the end of the description so look for files with TT in them ?

There is always a risk with any firmware update but the process self checks the file before updating but.......there will likely be no practical difference you would notice so if your not experienced in doing it I would not bother unless your actually having problems and it needs the update.

Whereas Updating the MMI and hacking map updates, enabling android auto / carplay, etc....has a practical benefit
