I recently decided to switch out my Avior resonated exhaust because it was a little too loud for me. I looked at valved systems, but realized that if the resonated exhaust was already too loud, I probably wouldn't ever make use of the valves open / straight pipes setting. Based on prior experience with Velocity AP (for my old Astons), I elected to get one of their X-pipe units. I had a hard time deciding between Sport or Supersport levels. My fear was that Supersport would be too close to the resonated Avior unit I was replacing, so I ended up getting the Sport unit.

I got the car back a few days ago. My first impression was that it was a little too quiet. As I drove more, however, the exhaust note started sounding better / louder. It's definitely louder than stock, but a more refined / exotic note with a nice higher pictched whine when under load. It doesn't have as much popping and burbling as the Avior did when I let off the gas. But, there is absolutely no resonance / droning in the cabin. Overall, it's a great-sounding exhaust that is definitely not obtrusive to driver / passenger or passers-by. I think the Supersport unit is probably the one most people will opt for as it should provide a little more sound. But, for someone considering using the R8 as a daily driver, the Sport level is great.

I think that one bit the dust - not in his hands though.

Is there any drone with the supersport exhaust? Any resonance in the cabin?
It is louder than stock, so you will hear it more in the cabin. But the Supersport with the XPipe muffler is 100% manageable from a daily driving point of view. It's not intrusive at all, and at cruising speeds and throttle openings you'll hear road noise before you hear exhaust.

If you purchased and were unhappy I'd gladly swap it out for you.

I am long overdue to post a full review of the ap velocity super sport setup. Stuart is a top notch guy to work with and his response is very quick. This thing sounds brilliant! No drone at all, at any highway speed 55-100+. At high rpm it comes alive and sounds positively f1 like.

Noticed your in bna, if you want to hear it in person pm me

Thanks Vishnu, glad you are so happy with it!

Thanks Vishnu. Just sent you a PM.

Decided to swap out my stock exhaust for an aftermarket one. Emailed a few company's, Stuart got back to me right away, gave me a great price and answered any follow up questions immediately. Had it installed by Audi last week and it sounds great. Not crazy loud by a little louder at idle and sounds exotic under acceleration. Great purchase. Thanks velocity.

Thank YOU. Glad you are happy, and that we got the sound level right for you.

Stuart, all. I just ordered the velocity AP race for my 2008 V8 and I got to tell you I’m a little apprehensive about it. My point of reference is my meistershaft GTC on my E92 M3. If the AP race is more insane than that when its valves were wide open, I think I need to go with something quieter. Any thoughts?

@Stuart@VelocityAP looking to buy a valved system for my 2017 R8 plus. Any discounts available? What’s your current lead time for deliver to the states?
Indeed we do! All forum members can use the coupon code R8TALK once, for a 10% discount on their entire order (exhaust, tune etc.) We are currently around 5-6 weeks from order placement to shipment, but as we get caught up from the holidays that time is coming down a little.

Any feed back from folks that have the valved version of the Velocity AP exhaust? Not many videos of the valved system online. Mainly race system & super sports system. How quiet it is compared to stock with the “sport/Race” version of the valved system. With valves closed of course…..

We don't actually make the Sport/Race version any more. We had consistent feedback from owners that most aftermarket exhausts (not just ours) didn't have enough difference between open & closed operation, but valved versions were understandably more expensive than fixed ones. We designed a special muffler which is used in the valved systems and it's very close to OEM sound level when iti is closed. Any videos you see of the race system are identical to how the valved system sounds with valves in the open position.

Wow! This is excellent News. Will be placing order first thing Monday morning. Thank you for the Information.

Does this work on the 2022 R8?
