I'll leave my answer at "fast enough." As Ranger points out, certain stuff you'd probably prefer to stay private. The Internet never forgets. :)

All of that said, I'm far less amused by top speeds these days and even raw acceleration. The R8 has both to spare. What I most enjoy is finding empty, tight, curvy roads where much slower speeds can feel like a rush, and exercising the car's lateral acceleration, cornering, and weight distribution give me a grin ear to ear... no less getting to paddle up and down rapidly through gears, corner to corner, with the small straights allowing for burst moments followed by hard on brakes and into the next corner. The engine and exhaust singing. Windows down. Nice breeze of fresh air. That's my cup of tea these days.
definitely agree...i love putting the 'puzzle' together for accel/brake/turn than seeing what the out right power/accel number is. wouldnt dare try that on a public road hence why mine was hit on a track

i hit about 150 mph in the canyons, anything faster i start to pee in my pants lol with all the bumpiness. i have never been to the track to experience any higher speed unfortunately

I was watching a video of a guy in a Mustang testing a newly installed autoblip device the other day, and as he pulls out onto a California road with American road signs it’s comes up in the screen “A Mexican Highway”.
Haha. Love going to Mexico on the weekends. And it’s right by my house!

Highest I’ve gone on interstate is 125mph. I haven’t been to the track. Yet.

Just like the title says , how fast you guys been in your R8 . Here is my View attachment 244705
I’m headed to the Kennedy Space Center in a couple of weeks for the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds. They’re giving me 2.7 miles to accelerate...really hoping to be over 200. How many miles did it take for you? I’ve got a ‘17 Plus too.

170mph on the back straight at VIR.

Let me be candid. This car is highly addictive and the way it goes fast is the reason. After owning 4 Corvettes, 3 Vipers, a ZL-1, Hot Rod 66 Mustang 302, etc I finally saw what I used to look like when I got out of one of those cars after wringing it's neck. I recently had the owner of a C7 Z06 demand to race me, so of course I obliged. After reaching 120 I started to put great distance from him as his image got smaller in the rear view. I looked down at the dash and saw it was at 177mph. I looked back up at the road and said to myself "oh my god, this car is sublime at high speed". It was so quiet and smooth I knew it would easily go 200.. After we were done I got out of my car and walked over to my friend who was exiting his Vet. He was drenched with sweat and still trembling from the adrenaline rush, he was rambling about how awesome that just was. I however was as calm as a pond on a windless day. I knew instantly that I have been mistaken about my Vets and Vipers. It dawned on me that you could buy 2 Z06's and one Z51 for the cost of my R8, and the reason becomes very apparent at high speeds. The car is worth every penny of the over 200k cost. As a side note we both were shocked to see that the Z06 had been "lifted" by the high speed run. It looked like it was on a rack, the suspension was lifted like 4". Apparently the MAG ride was malfunctioning and it looked pretty dangerous lifted that high up. Here is the thing...once you have an R8 you realize you could never go back. My wife's Z51 feels like junk when I drive it now. I can't wait (starting next year) to see the streets of America filled from small town to big cities with C8's. While you will almost never see an R8. The thing is you could have 3 wanna B supercar C8's or one Audi R8. LOL. Or you could have a C8 and a small house! For the cost of one R8. As I pull the R8 into the garage and shut it down my thoughts are that I can't wait until I take her out again, my $207,000 supermodel.

I've had my car for 9 months now. Top speed so far is about 80. I might open her up in a few weeks when I drive her down south through highway 5.
I donno Eddy...My R8 does these weird things like I'm driving between cities and I look at the speedo and it says something ridiculous like 90. It feels like 65 or so. You may have set a record for an R8 owner in those 9 months. It would be so tempting...kinda like having the hottest babe on the planet and just taking her to dinner and a movie and drop her off back at her home. Every day for nine months. You are the epitome of restraint.

Years ago I attended an Audi Experience at the Sonoma Raceway and enjoyed a day driving a V8 R8 (r-tronic too) on the track. Fastest I recall reaching was about 110 on one of the longer, almost-straightaways. But that wasn't the fun part. The fun part was the handling in the curves. That's where I get the most enjoyment from my R8. There are several wonderful sweeping curves on freeways near me that I can take at the posted legal limit (ahem), which is twice the "recommended" speed. Feeling the car pinned to the pavement in a tight, high speed turn is simply wonderful. Weekend mornings when no one else is out are the best times of course.

Daughter getting married next April. Watching this whole extravaganza spin out of fiscal reality, I decided to let go of some assets. Sell a sailboat and my beloved 16MTV10 Unicorn. But sailing calms my nerves, so I changed my mind on the boat. I read this post and realized how much that car nourishes my soul. Gonna drive it from DC to Charlottsville today. There's a section of Route 29 south of Culpepper that is straight and flat. So I plan on doing two things:
1. Taking a picture of my speedo.
2. Encouraging my daughter to elope.

The car is staying.

You made the correct choice on keeping the car. Esp with your unicorn.

I never understood weddings. So silly to spend so much money on something that is gone so quickly, where moderate or small sized ones are just as fun. My second was far more fun than the larger first one I had, and cost $110 in front of the Bellagio fountains.

Hit 165mph on a highway in Texas. Since then I've been between 130-145mph many times.

it will go over 200mph easy in 2+ mile distance .I've been 158mph in 1/2 mile . Not sure how long it took as it was on the private airport runway but I'd say we need around 1.5 miles to hit 200mph
