This should be a sticky.
Just noticed that it is.This should be a sticky.
Hi Doug,This is Brilliant Work..
I'm looking for the right exhaust for my R8 - V10 Spyder..
Talked with Fabspeed... looks great..
Also should investigate Armytrix..with the OBD-II
Both with the Valve system's..
Any comments between the two exhaust systems would be great..and service..or
if any one has a sound preference?? between the two..
I live in a "quite" OLDER PEOPLE area.. so when the valve is closed i'd need to be some what quiet..so I can sneek out and then go have fun...(just saying)
Also doing the Computer/upgrade looking at ...Unitronic, and Gary @ VF engineering..
Doug
Well done. Capristo is an excellent choice for the V10 (not so keen on it for the V8 as it's a bit gruff), made out of a higher grade of steel, as you state the valves are high quality with genuine reduction in dB when closed. And it will be worth something if you ever need to sell it.Wow - Choices , Choices!
I listened to about 1000 hours of online clips and finally went Capristo after narrowing it down ( ...and purchasing two!)
Capristo sounds quite deep on low RPM, A little "truckish" on low idle with no gas (which Im not crazy about) but everything from the moment you put any weight on the gas gets exponentially better! As RPMs climb the pitch climbs to the F1 is scream it seems everyone is looking for. Impressions - 0-2000 deep idling burble (clearly not stock), 2000-4000 growing growl, 4000-6000 angry hornet howling sound, 6000+ amazing F1 Scream...All in all I love the spectrum of sounds you get vs any one tone. The burbles and pops sound great , also deep not too tinny or metallic.
Note for better or worse the valve closed mode is VERY QUIET. It has a little subdued growl on high but other than that you can drive it to the market a or church and no-one will know you arrived.
!
Just got some video of my gen 2 base with Remus valved exhaust while cruising downtown with all those buildings for the sound to reflect off of:
Enjoy!

Agree with you. It sounds likes the engine has a timing issue with the pops.Yah the deceleration pops in the video above are a bit much. The intrinsic natural wind down noise during deceleration of an exotic engine is so beautiful. Having the crazy loud pops firing off excessively kinda spoils it in my opinion.
That's just how overrun sounds like on nearly straight-pipe exhaust. My buddy's Shelby Daytona (800 to the wheels) sounds like Cannon fire lolAgree with you.
