Hello All,
I did want to update this fantastic list. We have stop production on the non-valved system for the V10. We are now only producing the x-pipe for the R8 V8. We have received such a great response to the valved system we did not see a need for the non-valved system. Why get one system when you can get two great systems.

This is Brilliant Work..

I'm looking for the right exhaust for my R8 - V10 Spyder..
Talked with Fabspeed... looks great..
Also should investigate Armytrix..with the OBD-II
Both with the Valve system's..
Any comments between the two exhaust systems would be great..and service..or
if any one has a sound preference?? between the two..

I live in a "quite" OLDER PEOPLE area.. so when the valve is closed i'd need to be some what quiet..so I can sneek out and then go have fun...(just saying)
Also doing the Computer/upgrade looking at ...Unitronic, and Gary @ VF engineering..

Doug

Hi Doug,

We have a great Canadian-made Valved system that is basically OEM sound level when the valves are closed, but a wide open XPipe when open. And.... we're in Penticton, BC. So you can come visit us, have the system installed and then we can take you out to Area 27 for a few laps.

In addition to manufacturing our exhausts, We also do all our own in-house ECU Tuning so we can offer you everything all in one place!

In fact, we have a 2017 R8 in the shop right now for one of these systems:

Wow - Choices , Choices!

I listened to about 1000 hours of online clips and finally went Capristo after narrowing it down ( ...and purchasing two!)

Here is my description...

Capristo sounds quite deep on low RPM, A little "truckish" on low idle with no gas (which Im not crazy about) but everything from the moment you put any weight on the gas gets exponentially better! As RPMs climb the pitch climbs to the F1 is scream it seems everyone is looking for. Impressions - 0-2000 deep idling burble (clearly not stock), 2000-4000 growing growl, 4000-6000 angry hornet howling sound, 6000+ amazing F1 Scream...All in all I love the spectrum of sounds you get vs any one tone. The burbles and pops sound great , also deep not too tinny or metallic.

Note for better or worse the valve closed mode is VERY QUIET. It has a little subdued growl on high but other than that you can drive it to the market a or church and no-one will know you arrived.

Good luck working through the list. I listened to most of them and they ALL sound great compared to stock! I loved the VelocityAP, some of the single mode custom titanium, resonated X-Pipes...

Oh and yes I have an extra Supersport /Race valved combo for sale that is also excellent custom quality and killer sound!

Amen!

That specific multi car comparison clip was awesome and was what I used to buy a Meisterschaft for my wifes e92 (which sounds amazing)..couldn't find a similar one for the Gen2 R8. Need a meet up to produce one and save others the hours I spent online and in Forums.

Well done. Capristo is an excellent choice for the V10 (not so keen on it for the V8 as it's a bit gruff), made out of a higher grade of steel, as you state the valves are high quality with genuine reduction in dB when closed. And it will be worth something if you ever need to sell it.

Wow, the pops sound like gun shots ricocheting off the buildings!

With all the mass shootings on the news lately, some pedestrians must be jumping for cover when you pass. :p

Just got some video of my gen 2 base with Remus valved exhaust while cruising downtown with all those buildings for the sound to reflect off of:

Enjoy!

The pops are only that loud when engine braking from high rpm's on downshift. On a track when braking hard it does normal pops/rumble, and even engine braking it only pops that loud when it's high rpm on downshift. For lower rpm's it just does the regular overrun. I usually do the loud pops on purpose because it annoys my wife lol

Yah the deceleration pops in the video above are a bit much. The intrinsic natural wind down noise during deceleration of an exotic engine is so beautiful. Having the crazy loud pops firing off excessively kinda spoils it in my opinion.
Agree with you. It sounds likes the engine has a timing issue with the pops.
That's just how overrun sounds like on nearly straight-pipe exhaust. My buddy's Shelby Daytona (800 to the wheels) sounds like Cannon fire lol

The list has been given a bit of a tidy up - the links to websites and video clips validated and updated; some items deleted as they don't appear to exist any more. A few gen2 systems added and a couple of new entries - Cargraphics and Soul Performance. Soul make a straight through system which has to be the most minimal design I've come across - basically a couple of separate non-silenced exit pipes that bolt straight on to the factory header exits - see pic below and the video clip link in the page 1 list.

I have not heard any mention of Tubi for a long time now - their systems, particularly the Rumore, were regularly discussed on the forum when I joined 5 years ago. I thought they had given up on the R8 but see they make a system for the gen2. Do any forum members have one installed?
